Transporting Goods by Road

This qualification is available at Level 2 and is for anyone interested in driving a delivery vehicle.

Vehicles can range from a bicycle, to a motorcycle, to a van and ultimately to an LGV – a lorry weighing over 7.5 tonnes.

Delivery vehicle drivers transport and deliver packages between suppliers and customers. They could be travelling across the roads and motorways of the UK and beyond driving an LGV, or doing local deliveries in a van or on a motorcycle. Delivery vehicle driving is a skilled job, and doing it safely takes experience and training.

Delivery vehicle drivers need to know the rules of the road and have good time-keeping and planning skills. They can work anti-social hours, often alone, and spend time away from home.

There are 4 options depending on the vehicle you wish to drive, going from Cycle, Motorcycle, Van, to Rigid to Articulated/Drawbar.
