Skills for Logistics update

Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council for the Logistics Sector closed on the 31st of December 2014. We have bought the website and are working on a way by which we can maintain and develop it.

Our vision is to create a free to access resource centre for the Logistics Sector, one which will provide advice on skills, job vacancies, training, HR, legal issues, market trends and much more. We have already identified several partners who are going to work with us and we hope to go live soon.

Logistics Challenge Day

Skills for Logistics, SWAN and Local Logistics Employers supported a ‘Made in China’ Event at Moulton School in Northampton. Over 200 students took part in the challenge, which is a one-day practical activity designed to support enterprise education and learning across the UK. During the challenge, students form their own logistics companies and compete to win a new business contract from a worldwide retailer.

NOS: Current Consultations 2014

We are currently consulting with employers on a number of suites of National Occupational Standards (NOS). These projects involve consulting with industry to write new or review current National Occupational Standards / qualifications. Click for more details.

Certificate To Work (CtW)

The Logistics Sector is facing a huge driver shortage. Between 2010 and 2020, 149,000 new drivers will be needed in the sector. The Certificate to Work is a way of attracting new drivers into the industry no matter what their experience, as they will be able to demonstrate they have the knowledge, competence and skills to be a safe driver.
