Shipping and Maritime Operations (engineering)
This qualification is available at Level 3 and provides a structured programme of learning and practical experience with an emphasis on safety. The Merchant Navy’s fleet of ships transports goods and people over the seas. It includes ships and oil tankers, cruise ships and car ferries and specialist craft that support offshore oilrigs or lay undersea cables.
This qualification is an excellent progression if you are already working in the shipping industry as a qualified seafarer. The job role involves assisting in the engine room with routine maintenance and repair with oversight of a vessels engines and ancilllary mechanical and electrical systems .
