Montgomery wins top training award

Newtownabbey-based logistics operator Montgomery Transport Group was awarded the Top Irish Training Operator of the Year prize at the annual Export & Freight Transport & Logistics Awards event held in Belfast in September. The award is sponsored by the sector skills council for the freight logistics industry Skills for Logistics.

Montgomery Transport Group won the prize in the face of stiff competition from other leading contenders. The judges, assessing entries against the criteria used by Skills for Logistics for benchmarking training excellence, noted that: “The Montgomery Transport Group clearly demonstrated the links in operational efficiency, safe working practices, customer satisfaction and business growth. There is a strong commitment from senior management and great enthusiasm among the training team, which includes collaboration on an international level and looking at best practice across the logistics industry in Europe.”

Established in 1970, Montgomery Transport Group is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of logistical services.

The company is a privately-owned business, part of the Ballyvesey Holdings Group, that has grown significantly in recent years, now providing a diverse range of logistics services throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.

SfL operations director, Greg Cejer, says: “At Skills for Logistics we are pleased to see such enthusiasm for skills development in Northern Ireland.

“Montgomery Transport Group is a fine example of a company which prides itself in working closely with its customers, presenting a continually high quality of service, while striving to add value through creativity and innovation. Skills for Logistics congratulates Montgomery Transport Group on recognising the enormous importance of skills development to their business and in investing time and energy accordingly. They are very worthy winners of this important award.”
