Local Delivery

A local perspective is important for the Logistics Sector.  Logistics operations tend to happen in clusters around major road networks, ports, airports and rail terminals.  Around these logistics ‘hotspots’ are employers that need to be able to attract and recruit new talent and have access to high quality training to develop their existing workforce.

Connecting our sector to their local communities means that we can help employers take ownership of the local skills market, maximising its functionality and building a supply of skilled labour for the sector.  Employers have stressed the need for effective engagement at a local level to reach out into schools, colleges and communities to strengthen the sector’s image and attract new talent.

Our employers have been actively involved in the development of our local solutions.  With our support and guidance we have created successful employer networks in key logistics localities and delivered some excellent results.

17 of the 39 Local Enterprise Partnerships have identified the Logistics and Transport sector as a priority for their region.  This shows how important the sector is for many regions across England.  We also work across the UK and have established employer networks in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
