NOS – consultation
National occupational standard (NOS) for Food Safety in a Logistics Environment have now been submitted to UK Co-ordinating group for approval.
These draft national occupational standards have been written to highlight specific food safety aspects of various job roles in the logistics sector. The aim is that they may be used as additional or optional units to existing qualifications, as stand alone awards; or as the basis of training programmes.
The need for these standards has been driven by EU regulations that make it a legal requirement for all businesses that deal with food (i.e., food, drink and animal feeds) to have Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles embedded into their management systems.
Once approval has been granted further work to develop a new qualification for the Qualification and Credit Framework will take place in conjunction with our Awarding Body Forum.
