Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council (SSC) for the freight logistics industries, and Nortec Training, have won the highly respected South East Region National Training Award for the Driving to Success project. The programme, aimed at providing the unemployed with a route to become a truck driver, has enabled almost 1,000 people to return to, or find work in the logistics industry

21 year old Tom Reid is the first to pass the Young LGV Driver Training Scheme (YDS) in Scotland. The YDS is an initiative from Skills for Logistics to provide increased training and support in the logistics industry. With the current driver shortages, encouraging and supporting young members of staff to obtain qualifications is vital.
