18-21 Year olds

Anyone between the ages of 18 and 21 who holds a driving licence is eligible to undertake the Young Drivers Scheme.

The Young LGV Drivers Scheme

If you hold a full UK driving licence and have company sponsorship, you are eligible to take the Young LGV Drivers Scheme (YDS). The YDS allows you to work towards an LGV category C licence at the age of 18 rather than the normal legal requirement of 21. You'll also have the option to work towards the C + E category six months after qualifying.

Career Opportunities

Once you've got your Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Licence, you will be able to consider a variety of driving roles within Logistics. Opportunities may also arise to move into such areas as Transport Management.

Additional Qualifications

Once you hold an LGV Licence, there are additional qualifications you can work towards such as a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) which enables you to manage a transport operation or an ADR qualification, which enables you to transport hazardous goods.
