Andrew Callaghan, Chairman

Andrew Callaghan, SfL Chairman

Chairman of Skills for Logistics, the Sector Skills Council for the freight logistics industries. Previously Andrew was Chairman of Road & Sea Express from 2002 until 2005. Prior to that he was Chief Executive Officer, Sutton Transport Group and sat on the main board of Christian Salvesen as Managing Director, Industrial Division. He led the management buyout of ANC Company and currently chairs the NW Freight Advisory Group.

Robert Bartup

Robert Bartup, SfL Board Member

Managing Director, GB Liners, the third generation of his family to be involved with the business. Robert became National Chairman of The Movers Institute in 1998 and led the DTI-funded 'Moving Up' project, providing a network of regional training centres and in-company training material. Robert was President of the British Association of Removers in 2002/3.

Andy Boyle

Andy Boyle, SfL Board Member

Managing Director ABE (Ledbury Ltd). Andy is a past Chairman of Three Counties Training Services and a past board member of Palletline plc. He has been involved in the Road Haulage Association at local, regional and national level, and has been an RHA board member since 1992.

Paul Brooks

Paul Brooks, SfL Board Member

Sales Director Consumer, Unipart Logistics. Paul is responsible for the sales development of logistics solutions for a wide range of clients, across a number of sectors including retail, consumer products, technology and aerospace. He has extensive experience in the third party logistics sector, having previously held positions as Managing Director of Cert Logistics and Business Director at Exel Logistics. Prior to this Paul held senior positions in business services, IT and automotive organisations. In addition, Paul is currently Vice Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (UK) and Chairman of the Supply Chain Faculty.

Simon Colbourne

Simon Colbourne, SfL Board Member

Simon consults on a wide variety of logistics and supply chain management projects through his organisation Church Barn Consulting. Prior to that Simon was the General Manager, EWS Railway. Heading up new business development for the UK's largest rail freight provider. Previously, he spent five years with Exel plc, leading the team which won the SRA's ‘Innovation in Rail Freight Solutions' competition. Industry commitments include board member of Skills for Logistics and working with key Logistics clients.

Sue Cowley

Sue Cowley is responsible for HR leadership to the Healthcare, Automotive, Industrial, Technology Business Units and newly acquired NHS Supply Chain Business at DHL Exel Supply Chain.  With over 9,000 employees, a key focus at DHL is the development of future talent and skills in the logistics industry. Sue began her HR career in the Train Maintenance industry and has spent the last eight years working in the logistics sector in a variety of roles within the UK and Europe. She is a Fellow of the CIPD.

Paul Fox

Paul Fox, SfL Board Member

Managing Director of Fox Group (Moving & Storage) Ltd. Paul was previously the chairman of the British Association of Removers.

George Inch

George Inch, SfL Board Member

Previously Managing Director, DHL Container Logistics (UK) Ltd. George has over 30 years experience in the logistics industry, working in a variety of roles across third party logistics, supply chain solutions, automotive, manufacturing and technology sectors. His career to date encompasses high profile logistics organisations including Exel, Tibbet & Britten, Unipart and now DHL Container Logistics.

Edward Jenkins

Edward Jenkins, SfL Board Member

Edward has had a lifetime career in road transport and distribution, including Training and Development Manager at Rhys Davies Freight Logistics, specifically responsible for Investors in People. Edward spent 36 years at Hills Transport Cardiff Ltd where he held a number of senior positions, including Managing Director. He has also held the position of Vice Chairman of the RHA Long Distance Group.

Rebecca Jenkins

Rebecca Jenkins, SfL Board Member

Following the successful sale of Lane Group to Wincanton, Rebecca is the Sales Director for Wincanton. Previously the Managing Director, Lane Group plc. Rebecca has played a major role in the development of the company's contractual success, which has seen the company secure a number of long-standing relationships with a wide range of blue-chip customers. Rebecca has taken part in a number of industry youth awareness initiatives such as the FTA's Smart Moves and Lane Group's own school initiative.

John Lister

John Lister, SfL Board Member

John is a prominent member of the courier sector having been involved in the industry for over 25 years. He has progressed his career from self-employed, sub-contracted motorcycle courier through the ranks as controller, fleet manager and general manager, to eventually owning a leading London courier firm. He brings a wealth of knowledge of the despatch industry to Skills for Logistics, and is currently the Chairman of the Despatch Association and a founding fellow of the institute of Couriers.

Robert Monks

Robert Monks, SfL Board Member

General Secretary, United Road Transport Union. After 14 years as a full-time URTU official, Robert left to practice as a barrister on the North-East circuit, specialising in Employment and Discrimination Law and Personal Injury. In 2001, Robert was elected General Secretary, URTU to serve for a five-year period.

David Morton

David Morton, SfL Board Member

Strategic Development Director, with Edinburgh based Menzies Distribution Ltd. David joined Menzies, in 1992 from a background spanning various roles in operational research, plant, commercial and logistics management. His current role recognises the strategic importance of continuously developing Menzies' logistics capabilities, related focus upon delivery of innovative business-wide project developments, and ongoing need to ensure that these reflect both clients' aspirations and customers' needs. Menzies specialises in time critical logistics, including wholesaling services to the UK newspaper and magazine publishing sector.

Bob Russett

Bob Russett, SfL Board Member

Bob is Managing Director of Palletline Distribution Ltd. One of the founders of Palletline Plc, Bob was its Chairman for 13 years, standing down in 2005. He graduated in Road Transport Management and became the fourth generation in the family business, The Premier Group. He has been active in the RHA from local to national level becoming Chairman in 2001. He gained the Prince Philip Medal for commitment to a trained workforce. He has also been awarded a Motor Transport Award, Special Achievement Award and an Order of Merit from the Worshipful Company of Carmen.

Val Smith

Val Smith, SfL Board Member

Val is General Manager of Ulster-based Bondelivery, a warehousing and distribution based organisation with over 50 blue-chip companies on its books including house-hold names in ambient foods, white / brown goods, hanging garments, electronics and tobacco related products. Val was the first ever female National Chairman for the RHA.

Brigadier John Wallace OBE

John Wallace OBE, SfL Board Member

Commandant, Defence College of Logistics and Personnel Administration. John has over 30 years experience in the military transport and logistics sector, with his most recent appointments at the strategic and operational levels of logistics planning and operations. He is currently responsible for the delivery of all aspects of logistics training across the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force. John is demonstrating his own continuous professional development by participating in a two year MA in Leadership Studies with the University of Exeter.

Ron Webb

Ron Webb, SfL Board Member

T&GWU National Secretary for the Transport Sector. Ron has been an official with T&G for 20 years and heads up the T&GWU's Road Transport Commercial Trade Group, representing the Union in European forums. Campaigns include the implementation of the Working Time Directive, national wage negotiations, and sector strategies for the Union.

Graham Westcott

Graham Westcott, SfL Board Member

Chairman, G J Cooper Holdings Ltd and its trading subsidiaries in transport, logistics, warehousing and shipping. Graham chairs the RHA Careers and Training committee. He is a founder member and past Chairman of the Road Haulage and Distribution Training Council. Graham is also a member of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.
