The Diploma in Retail Business
Skills for Logistics has been a key player in the development of the new Diploma in Retail Business which incorporates the retail supply chain.
The Diploma in Retail Business is being introduced in schools in England from September 2010. This is one of 17 new Diplomas which will form part of a national entitlement from 2013 onwards for all 14 - 19 year olds.
The timetable is as follows:

October 2008 - July 2009
|
· Qualification development for the "Principal Learning" of the Diploma in Retail Business visit Diploma in Retail Business Qualification Criteria (Principal Learning)
· Approval of qualifications for inclusion in the additional, specialist learning catalogue such as logistics and supply chain, languages, GSCEs, A levels etc Structure of Diplomas and for progression to employment, FE or HE Progression to HE

11 and 14 November 2008
|

26 November 2008 - end March 2009
|
· Assessment and approval of bids from local consortia to run the Diploma (known as the Gateway process): visit Gateway 2010 Diplomas
· Consortia include employers, further and higher education institutions, training providers, local 14-19 partnerships, schools, education business partnerships and careers information advice and guidance agencies.

March 2009 – September 2010
|
· Consortia work together to develop the curriculum and prepare to support and teach the new Diploma in Retail Business from September 2010
· Teacher training and development of resources to support teaching, work experience and work related learning.

September 2013
|
· Diploma in Retail Business becomes a national entitlement in schools in England for all 14-19 year olds, along with the 16 Diplomas for other sector.
